A School on the Rise
Established in 1998 with just 20 pupils, Soin Primary School now has 264 learners (122 girls, 142 boys). Under Head Teacher Mr. Kepter Wilbon, the school has expanded, enrolling its first Junior Secondary cohort in 2025.

Facilities and Achievements
The school has 9 classrooms, with 7 in use for learning, and provides accommodation for some teachers. Learners have steadily improved academically since 2021, while excelling in athletics, reaching the regional level in competitions.
Major Challenges
- Unsafe manual borehole water system, posing health and safety risks.
- No library, science lab, or computer lab, limiting exposure to CBC practicals.
- Small playground and limited land (1.7 hectares).
- Feeding program supports only Junior Secondary learners.
- Accommodation shortage for teachers.
- Severe underfunding – only KES 11,000 received from the government.
- High prevalence of ringworm infections among younger pupils.
PTR Observations
Our visit highlighted the urgent need to improve water safety, expand facilities, and enhance health interventions. Addressing these would not only improve education quality but also safeguard learners’ wellbeing.
Conclusion
Soin Primary reflects both progress and vulnerability. With targeted interventions in water, health, and educational infrastructure, the school could grow into a stronger hub of learning for the community.
