A School of Scale
With 947 learners and 15 teachers, Mosocho Primary School is among the largest in Kisii County. The PTR team, led by Mwalimu Kate and local partner Mr. Ken Bosire, was warmly welcomed by Headteacher Mr. Jackson Nyakango and Senior Teacher Mr. Jones Apoko.
Current Resources
The school has four 10,000-liter water tanks, consuming about 5,000 liters daily. While this helps during normal times, sustainability during dry spells remains a challenge.

Key Challenges
- No feeding program, leaving many learners hungry.
- Uniform shortages, with staff sometimes personally supporting pupils.
- Limited games equipment, restricting co-curricular development.
- Birth certificate gaps, lowering government funding.
Learner Engagement
PTR conducted a Russian language basics session, with learners eagerly repeating phrases and showing joy in cultural exploration. Teachers noted that such sessions uplift morale and broaden perspectives.
Conclusion
Mosocho Primary demonstrates resilience but continues to face pressing issues of hunger, resource shortages, and documentation gaps. PTR committed to ongoing collaboration, advocating for feeding programs, learning resources, and improved welfare.
