Path to Russia Launches Russian Language Programs in Nandi County

NANDI COUNTY, Kenya — September 20, 2025

On Saturday, September 20, Path to Russia formally launched its Russian language and cultural programs in Nandi County, marking a historic step in expanding global educational opportunities for Kenyan learners.

The launch took place at Bishop Muge Memorial School, an institution celebrated for its academic distinction and as home to the East Africa volleyball champions. The event drew more than 10,000 community members and brought together national and local leaders, underscoring its significance.

Sharing a Platform with National Leaders

In a rare moment of convergence, Path to Russia shared the stage with Mr. Faruk Kibet, Personal Assistant to the President of Kenya, and Hon. Aaron Cheruiyot, Senate Majority Leader. Both leaders underscored the importance of education, global exposure, and youth empowerment as pathways to national growth.

For Path to Russia, the presence of such high-ranking leaders was a testament to the credibility and relevance of its mission: creating bridges between Kenyan students and the wider world through language, culture, and sport.

Programs to Begin in January 2026

The rollout of Russian language courses will begin in January 2026, preceded by cultural workshops designed to prepare learners for an immersive experience. The initial partner institutions include:

  • Bishop Muge Memorial School
  • Soin Primary School
  • Saru-Gaa Primary School
  • Ngenyilel TVET, a newly built technical training center where Russian courses will debut at the post-secondary level.

These programs are designed not only to teach language but also to build cross-cultural understanding and to align Kenyan learners with international opportunities.

A Global Connection Through Sport

The event carried symbolic resonance for Anna Semenova, Chairperson of Path to Russia. Her home region of Belgorod, Russia, is internationally known for its championship volleyball club, Belogorie. The connection between Belgorod’s legacy and Bishop Muge Memorial’s volleyball triumphs underscored how education and sport can transcend borders and unite communities.

Looking Ahead

The launch in Nandi County is only the beginning. Path to Russia has committed to ensuring that Kenyan students are not only exposed to international languages and culture but are also equipped with the tools to succeed on the world stage.

As classrooms in Nandi prepare for Russian lessons in the new year, the vision is clear: a generation of learners confident in their local identity while fluent in the global language of opportunity.
